Aloha!  Olivia was lucky enough to celebrate her magical 2nd birthday in Hawaii…rough life huh?!  We just got back last night and both Olivia and Isaac slept 15 hours straight!  I’d say that is a good indicator that they had a good time.

Olivia is quite the lil’ fishy!  She loves to swim in the “blue wawa”  We pretty much spent at least 4 hours straight each day in the pool….and had to negotiate the terms of evacuating the pool, hours in advance.  It usually involved m&m’s and some kicking and screaming!  The sand on the other hand…not her favorite!  She didn’t like to walk in it….at all!  She would dig in it if she were sitting on your lap or on a towel.  But god forbid it touch her sacred feet ;)

We had a wonderful 1st Christmas in Illinois :)  It took us 3 days to open all the gifts!  Last year Olivia didn’t really get into Christmas….this year she would open a gift and have to play with it for 2 hours…then run around screaming “more more more”. She does not like to tear paper however…it totally stressed her out.  I think it reminds of her of accidentally tearing pages in her books :(   Olivia asked santa for “balls, choo choo’s, books and apples”.  She was pretty excited to find all of that under the tree…and more.  She got a british royal palace dollhouse, complete with horse, carriage, furniture and Prince William, Kate, 2 Royal guards, George and baby.  It has provided countless hours of fun for both of us!  I even find myself picking up dollhouse before I go to bed ;)

Olivia’s love for football continues.  She likes to watch it with her daddy.   She will tell you her favorite team is the Seahawks and will yell “go Seahawks” and “touchdown” with her arms in the air.  She also loves to play with her miniature pink football :)

Olivia finally got her first haircut!  It was quite the ordeal.  Like everything, mama had to research places for days in advance.  I finally found an adorable place called ABC cuts.  It was a darling little boutique catering to kids only.  She got to sit in a pink, vintage airplane chair.  They completed her look with a tiny braid and sprayed her hair with sparkles from a cute vintage perfume bottle.  I just about died…..cutest thing ever!  She thought it was pretty cool too :)

Our handsome lil’ guy is 7 months already!  For some reason…that sounds sooooo old!  He is such a sweet, genuine, happy little lover!  He’s always smiling with his blue eyes and his one dimple…he melts mama’s heart!  To top it off he says “mama” now…it’s a quadrafecta!  He’s such a determined, strong go-getter too.  He’s already pulling himself up!  I’m sure he’ll be walking before we know it!  We call him “the shark” because if he wants something…he’s going to get it.  If he wants Olivia’s toy…he will crawl all the way across the house to grab it from her.  If he wants picked up, he’ll wrap both arms around your ankles until you pick him up. And the dog bowls are like catnip for babies.  Imagine him doing all this to the tune of “Duuun dun duuun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun BOM BOM dun dun dun dun dun dun doo dedoo doo dedoo dede doo dede doo dededoo”  {translation: jaws theme song”}

Lil’ Mr. has started eating solids…I don’t think he’s impressed thus far ;)  I’m pretty sure he’s going to be hard to wean when the time comes….he’s perfectly content with mama milk.  He much prefers eating from a spatula over a spoon….which is pretty convenient when scraping the excess food from his cheeks, nose, eyes, forehead and neck ;)

We are headed to Hawaii tomorrow…so I’m going to make this short.  We have consolidated all the baby/toddler paraphernalia to 2 suitcases, 2 strollers, 2 carseats and 3 backpacks…not to forget the 2 babes.  Wish us luck on our 4x – 5/6 hour flights and 4 hour time difference.  We are leaving single digit temperatures and 6″ of snow for 80’s, sand and sun….hallelujah.  Much deserved after our crazy year :)

NOW, I know why people just keep having children ;)  Their babies grow up way to fast and they just want more!  I’m fairly certain at this point, we are done though.  I can’t imagine having anymore love to give!  Words cannot even describe how proud I am to be her mama!  She’s smart, loving, compassionate and hilarious.  I couldn’t have dreamed up a more amazing little girl! Ok Ok, I’ll save all the mushy gushy for next month when she turns …….nope, I’m not ready to say it yet.

We are happy to announce Olivia got accepted to Montessori school this week!  I am so proud of her.  I’m not sure how I’m going to handle sharing her with them 2 days a week for 3 hours!  I feel a little selfish, guilty, proud and excited.  She is going to have so much fun learning from others in a new environment and socializing with other tiny humans her age.  She also starts dance in January too.  She loves tutu’s and dancing…so I can only assume she will love becoming a ballerina!  I’m nervous because all of this excitement starts immediately after returning from Maui.  Four, 5 hour flights, 4 hour time difference, overstimulated fun in the sun, etc.

There pretty much isn’t a word that this girl doesn’t say anymore!  She repeats EVERYTHING I say!  The other day I sneezed in the car, and she says “mama, are you ok?”  It’s really funny to see how she translates things into full sentences though.  She wanted some cereal the other morning and she said “crackers and milk, please mama”  and then asks for a “mama spoon”.  This is how she describes size now…small = baby, medium = mama, and large = daddy.  She counts to 10…and has started saying and identifying letters and their sounds.  My favorite is her almost instantaneous switch from “yes/no” to “yep/nope”.  I also adore the tone in which she says “uh oh”

Olivia has started using the big girl potty!  I bought her a little plastic one…but she much prefers the “mama potty” sized one.  We give her M&M’s and stickers when she is successful…and she’ll say “num nums” while licking her lips to request one.  She likes to sit on the potty and ready books.  She could do this for hours…except I’m worried her feet are going to fall off.  It’s difficult to navigate our bathrooms due to the influx of books scattered everywhere.

She is definitely 100% mini-mama!  Not only does she look like me…but she is preprogrammed like me too.  She is a little neat freak.  She doesn’t like dirty or messy things and requests to wash her hands at least a dozen times a day.  She can spot the tiniest thing on the floor and immediately says “gucky”, picks it up and puts it in the trashcan.  She likes to pick up her toys and put them away, as well as everyone’s dirty laundry.  We have discovered that she doesn’t like snow to touch her…or her boots and refuses to walk on it.  Even the brightest, whitest, fluffy snow. She requests that I carry her by reaching up and saying “two babies” …meaning carry me and my brother :)

I am beyond proud of how polite, loving and compassionate this lil’ girl has become!  She always says “please” and “thank you”.  She asks “are you ok” and genuinely seems concerned if you are angry, sad or hurt.  She loves to give kisses and hugs and say “I love you more”  randomly and out of the blue.  Her new thing is telling us what makes her happy.  The other day it was sunny after a few days of clouds…I opened her window blinds and she said “blue sky” “sun” “happy”.  My heart grows bigger and bigger everyday!
